How do I know if a tankless water heater is right for my home?

A tankless water heater is a great fit if you want steady hot water, lower monthly energy use, and a system that takes up less space than a traditional tank. We look at your home’s size, how many bathrooms you have, and your peak hot water demand to make sure you get the right unit. Our goal is to recommend a system that performs well for your household, not just sell you equipment.

Will a tankless water heater really give me endless hot water?

Yes, when the unit is sized and installed correctly. Tankless systems heat water as you use it, so you are not limited by the amount stored in a tank. That means longer showers and better hot water supply for busy households. The key is proper sizing, gas or electrical capacity, and expert installation, which is exactly what we handle at Connected Plumbing.

How long does tankless water heater installation take?

Most tankless water heater installations can be completed in one day, but the exact time depends on your existing plumbing, venting, gas line, or electrical setup. Some homes need upgrades to support the new system. We explain the scope clearly before work begins, keep the job organized, and make sure everything is tested before we leave.

Is it more expensive to install a tankless water heater than a standard water heater?

In many cases, yes, the upfront cost is higher than a standard tank water heater. But many homeowners choose tankless because of the long-term value, including lower operating costs, a longer system life, and better hot water performance. We give honest pricing, explain what is included, and help you understand the full value before you make a decision.

What maintenance does a tankless water heater need?

Tankless water heaters need regular maintenance to stay efficient and last as long as they should. In most homes, that means periodic flushing to remove mineral buildup, plus a general inspection of the system. We can walk you through what your unit needs based on your water quality and usage. Keeping up with maintenance helps prevent performance issues and costly repairs.

Tankless Water Heater Installation

At Connected Plumbing, we install tankless water heaters for homeowners who want reliable hot water, better energy efficiency, and a cleaner setup with less wasted space. If you are tired of running out of hot water during showers, laundry, or dishes, a tankless system can be a smart upgrade. We help homeowners in El Dorado Hills, Placerville, Folsom, and nearby areas choose the right unit and make sure it is installed safely and correctly.

Unlike a traditional water heater that stores hot water in a tank, a tankless water heater heats water only when you need it. That means you get hot water on demand. It also means the unit does not keep reheating a big tank all day long, which can help lower energy use. For many homes, this leads to more comfort, more efficiency, and peace of mind.

What Our Tankless Water Heater Installation Service Includes

We handle the full installation process from start to finish. Our goal is to make the upgrade simple and stress-free for you. We start by looking at your home’s hot water needs, plumbing layout, fuel source, and venting requirements. Then we recommend a properly sized system based on the number of bathrooms, fixtures, appliances, and how much hot water your family uses at the same time.

Removal of old water heater, if needed
Installation of new tankless water heater
Water line connections and shut-off valve setup
Gas line evaluation and upgrades when required
Electric circuit review for electric tankless units
Proper venting and exhaust setup for gas models
Pressure and safety checks
System testing and startup
Basic walkthrough so you know how to use and maintain your new unit

We install systems with care because tankless units must be sized and set up correctly to perform the way they should. A poor installation can lead to weak performance, temperature swings, error codes, or a shorter system life. We take the time to do it right.

Benefits of Installing a Tankless Water Heater

Many customers call us because they want a better long-term solution than a standard tank water heater. Tankless systems offer several real benefits for the right home.

Endless hot water: Great for larger families, back-to-back showers, and busy mornings
Lower energy costs: Water is heated only when needed
Space savings: Wall-mounted units take up less room than bulky storage tanks
Long service life: Many tankless units can last longer than traditional water heaters when maintained properly
Cleaner operation: Less standby heat loss compared to tank models
Modern performance: Steady hot water delivery for daily comfort

If your current water heater is aging, leaking, or struggling to keep up, now may be the right time to upgrade to a high-efficiency tankless model.

Choosing the Right System for Your Home

Not every tankless water heater is the same. The right system depends on your home size, peak demand, and whether you want a gas or electric unit. We help you understand your options in plain language, so you can make a smart decision without pressure.

When recommending a unit, we look at factors like:

How many bathrooms your home has
How many fixtures may be used at once
Incoming groundwater temperature
Flow rate requirements
Available gas line capacity or electrical capacity
Indoor installation or outdoor installation needs
Manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements

Proper sizing matters. If the unit is too small, you may not get enough hot water during peak use. If it is oversized, you may spend more than needed. We make sure the system fits your home and usage habits.

Gas and Electric Tankless Water Heater Installation

We install both gas tankless water heaters and electric tankless water heaters, depending on the property and the customer’s goals. Gas models are often a popular choice because they can support higher flow rates for larger households. Electric models can work well in certain homes, additions, or point-of-use applications where demand is lower or where gas is not available.

For gas tankless installations, we check gas supply, venting routes, combustion air, and code compliance. For electric tankless installations, we review electrical service capacity, breaker requirements, and wiring needs. Every home is different, and we make sure the installation matches both the unit and the property.

Tankless Conversion From a Traditional Water Heater

Switching from a standard tank water heater to a tankless system may require more than just swapping one unit for another. In many cases, changes are needed to gas piping, venting, drainage, electrical components, mounting location, or water lines. That is why experience matters.

We manage the details needed for a smooth conversion and explain the work clearly before we begin. Our team focuses on safe installation, solid performance, and clean workmanship. We want your new system to work the way it should from day one.

Code Compliance and Professional Installation

Tankless water heater installation is not a basic plug-and-play job. These systems need proper clearances, pressure settings, valves, venting materials, and manufacturer-approved installation methods. We follow current plumbing and safety standards so your system is installed to code and built to last.

Hiring a professional also helps protect your investment. Many manufacturers require correct installation and setup to keep warranties valid. We pay attention to those details and test the system carefully before we finish the job.

Maintenance and Long-Term Performance

Like any water heating system, tankless units need maintenance to stay efficient and dependable. Mineral buildup can affect performance over time, especially in areas with harder water. We explain what your unit needs and can help with service if your system needs flushing, inspection, or troubleshooting later on.

Routine maintenance can help:

Protect heat exchanger performance
Reduce scale buildup
Improve efficiency
Extend system life
Lower the risk of unexpected repairs
